Phong Nha Cave and Dark Cave (Group Tour.)

Tour Code: PN07
Duration: 01
Level: Easy

Dark Cave is an adventurous and action-packed experience. The tour includes a zip line over a turquoise river; swimming to the cave entrance (life jackets provided); walking in the dark with only a headlamp on your miner's helmet to light the way; mud bathing in the mud pools; and swimming in the lake inside the cave. Return by kayak along the river through the suspended obstacle course and zip lines. Dark Cave is named as such because it is one of the few caves without artificial lighting. The cave is primarily composed of basalt and limestone. Basalt, a black and hard rock, also contributes to the cave's name.

Phong Nha Cave, or "river cave," is located along the historic Ho Chi Minh Trail and is a relic of the Vietnam War. This cave was actively used to facilitate the route supporting the battlefield in South Vietnam. Sheltered from routine bombings, it served to hide secret floating bridges (which were deployed at night and placed over the river to help trucks supply the South). Today, this area has become the first section of the highly popular Ho Chi Minh Trail, featuring lush mountainous landscapes. The visit includes a 6 km dragon boat ride on the turquoise Son River and into the cave. Navigate 1 km inside the cave before disembarking and exploring 300 meters on foot.

Itinerary :

Pickup from your hotel in Dong Hoi or Phong Nha. The driver and guide will take you to Dark Cave. Participate in various adventure activities: long zip line, swimming, kayaking, adventure course, water zip line, etc. The exploration of the cave in the dark is an unforgettable experience, and the final mud bath is an extra highlight.

Around noon, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant (vegetarian options available). In the early afternoon, take a 30-minute boat ride up the river to Phong Nha Cave in a traditional dragon boat. Inside the cave, the driver will turn off the engine to admire it. You will then explore the cave on foot.
