Paradise cave – The longest dry cave in Asia

With its naturally primitive features, Paradise cave resembles a scenic painting, making it a natural wonder admired by many since its opening in 2010. According to speleologists, the deeper you go into the cave, the more you enjoy the celestial clarity wells around. The cave can reach up to 72 meters in height and 150 meters in width. There is a series of white crystal stalactites (calcareous deposits) resembling natural pillars and many other spectacular formations. Paradise cave (Hang Thien Duong) was discovered by scientists from the British Speleological Research Association in 2005. It is 31.4 km long and is the longest dry cave in Asia.

Phong Nha cave is not only a World Natural Heritage site but also a relic of the historic Ho Chi Minh trail, which during the American War served as a secret hideout for floating bridges (which were only brought out at night to avoid targeted bombings.) These bridges were key elements in the supply chain from north to south, allowing supply trucks to cross rivers. It also once served as a hospital, with weapons stationed at the entrance. Once its location was discovered, it was heavily bombed, leaving the external scars you see today. This area has now become the first section of the very popular Ho Chi Minh Trail, as it features lush mountainous landscapes.
